Signs of Spring

I know that for a lot of people, signs of spring have already been around for weeks now. Where I live though, this past week has really just been our first real taste of spring, and I'm absolutely loving it. Here's just a bit of what's been going on around our house, or what will be going on, in the weeks to come:

now just how cool is this little guy?• roadkill, and lots of it

• flies, mosquitos, moths and ladybugs, in my kitchen (time for the cans of bug killer in the auto-mister)

• muddy boots - in the inside porch, and at least one stuck in the field (note to self: get out there and retrieve it before the farm machinery comes)

• Tim Horton's Roll Up The Rim to Win (free coffee - w00tango!)

• Very white people in shorts

• Very tanned (yeah, that's natural) people in shorts

• kids asking if it's warm enough for a water fight (answer: NO)

• lots and lots and lots of birds in the yard (including hawks, that want to eat them all up)

• wildlife sightings in or near the yard: skunks, raccoons, fox, deer and coyotes

• oodles of photo ops

• really cool thunderstorms (and power outages)

• going through all dressers and putting away sweaters (yes!)

• digging through the steamer trunk for sandals (yes!)

• garden dirt under my recently trimmed fingernails

• kids asking "how many more months of school?" (8-9 more weeks, then we're done for the year!)

Yep, the snow is gone, the icy winds are gone, and Lord willing, we're headed down the highway in a couple days to have lunch with the Shays & maybe even go for a walk in the park (without dying of frostbite). Yay for spring!
