A Great Hymn Revival?

There is so much to be said for hymns that render you quite literally undone. Hymns that you can't sing, because you can't find your voice. Hymns that put a lump in your throat, tears in your eyes and humility in your heart. Hymns that contain words that make you feel so incredibly small in God's presence, and yet you desire to feel even smaller.

I can't help but wonder what would happen in our local churches if there were such thing as a great hymn revival? If every song that we sung was like this? Worship music that caused the singers to weep from deep places in the soul and glorified the Lord God with every word. I wonder what kind of a result (immediate & long term) that would have on the local body of believers, and individuals... at home, at work or at school?

I'm just blogging outloud. I certainly wish this would happen, but with our modern day approach to "pop" hymn & praise music, I seriously doubt that would ever happen. We've become too comfy with our warm-fuzzy-feely-good praise/entertainment songs.

But oh boy... would I sure love to see a great hymn revival & see all that other fluff get tossed out the door once and for all.
